撮影者の親族の話では、戦前は正月などに自宅に大道芸人を招き、獅子舞などを楽しむ家庭が多く、「今の子供たちはそのようなものを見る機会がなく残念」と語っていた。
映像では獅子舞のほか、日本古来の球や棍棒を使ったお手玉、軽業や曲芸などの大道芸が披露されている。

Many pre-war homes invited in lion dancers and other street performers as part of the New Year’s celebrations, according to a descendant of the recorder, who feels that children today are missing out on such entertainment. The footage shows a lion dance and traditional Japanese street performances, including ball and club juggling, plate-spinning, and other routines.
